Book Editing Services
Level 1 - Proofreading
The proofreading service is offered for manuscripts that have already been edited at least one time. Some clients may have had their manuscript edited with another editing service but may need one final pair of eyes before they are satisfied with their final product. This service will assist with remaining typographical errors, inconsistencies, numerical sequences and alphabetical order, format checks, and end-of-line syllabication.

Level 2 - Copyediting
The copyediting service will ensure your manuscript is free of grammatical errors and has consistent style and flow. With this service, our editors will correct any errors in spelling, punctuation, syntax, grammar, and usage. To ensure clarity, we will check for concision, which may include trimming redundancy, tightening wording, and eliminating confusing text. This is a standard level of service which will ensure the reader will not stumble through the text due to grammatical flaws and will provide for a seamless and enjoyable reading experience.
In some cases a client’s manuscript may require substantive editing, despite the fact that the client only requested our copyediting service. If a WAYMAKER PUBLISHING editor is not able to successfully copyedit a document based on substantive structural and grammatical flaws that preclude the editor from performing a satisfactory editing job, WAYMAKER PUBLISHING will return the manuscript to the author and give the author the option to either rewrite the manuscript and resubmit, or upgrade their level of service to include substantive editing.

Level 3 - Substantive Editing
The substantive editing is for authors with completed manuscripts. The manuscript will be read and evaluated to ensure the author’s vision is maintained throughout the text. Our editors begin by assessing the manuscript, as a whole, for style, tone, structure, logic, and accuracy. This may lead to reorganizing the manuscript, rewriting portions of text, eliminating wordiness, writing transitions and summaries, as well as working with the author to resolve inconsistencies and clarify confusing passages.

Level 4 - Ghostwriting
The ghostwriting services are designed to help aspiring authors turn their thoughts, ideas, and desires into a well-written and compelling book. Our team of experienced ghostwriters work closely with clients to understand their vision, target audience, and specific requirements for the content. The ghostwriting process is tailored to each project and the preferences of the client, and may include research, interviews, and multiple drafts for review and editing. The ghostwriter works in collaboration with the client throughout the writing process to ensure the finished product meets their expectations. Ghostwriting is typically done under a contract, which outlines the scope of the project, compensation for the ghostwriter, and any confidentiality or non-disclosure agreements. The client who hires the ghostwriter will typically retain the rights to the finished work, and the ghostwriter will not be acknowledged as the author.
